Q1: What is the visa 90/180 rule?
The 90/180 rule means that a visa holder cannot stay more than 90 days in total within each 180-day period. This calculator uses the fixed-period system: with the first entry date as the starting point of the cycle, every 180-day period is ≤90 days, every 365-day period is ≤180 days, and the quota is automatically reset at the end of the period. See Rule description for details.
Q2: When does the 180-day cycle start?
From the first entry date (the earliest entry date in your travel record). Period 1 = the day of first entry through day 179; period 2 starts at day 180, and so on.
Q3: What should I do after the quota is used up?
Once the accumulated stay reaches the limit within a period, you can only wait for the current period to end and the quota to reset before re-entering. When you have used 90 days, the status will show "Departure" (you need to leave the country); if you have used more than 90 days, it will show "Expired".
Q4: Will the quota be reset after the cycle ends?
Under the fixed-period system, each period is calculated independently: at the end of the period (after the 180th day/365th day), the quota returns to 90 days/180 days and the accumulation restarts from 0.
Q5: What are the consequences of overstaying?
May include: fines, bad records, restrictions on re-entry, impact on future visa applications, etc. Be sure to make a clear calculation before traveling, and refer to the official agency's caliber.
Q6: Where is my trip data stored?
Your data is saved only in the browser's local storage (localStorage) and is never uploaded to any server. Please note that clearing browser data, exiting incognito mode, or changing devices may result in data loss.
Q7: Can I enter my future planned itinerary?
It is recommended to use "Plan Verification" to test future itineraries: enter the intended entry date, and the tool will give the latest legal departure date. Please note that once the future itinerary is entered, it will consume the quota immediately.
Q8: Which countries’ visa rules does this tool support?
This tool is calculated based on a fixed period system (180 days / 90 days + 365 days / 180 days) and is suitable for visas that adopt similar rules. Different countries have different calibers (rolling windows, natural years, and quotas vary). Please refer to the official instructions. See Comparison of rules across countries.
